Throughout this book Alex has a dark past and present, similar to that of a mafia. Despite this he isn’t toxic like mafia men are in other books. It was mainly “I hate everyone, but you”. Ava trying to get him to “show emotions” was, an awkward and not subtle, but perfect segue for them to get close. It also gave a sense of comedy to the story.

Ava’s past with ther father and how Alex is involved is a solid underlying plot for this particular story and Ana Huang develop’s it well. The story goes into how it affects the side characters stories and relationships.

Overall, this is a basic grumpyxsunshine, but it had a solid plot and likeable main characters, so I enjoyed it.
