My Review / Thoughts

“She’s divine with enough wickedness to make a sinner like me want to pray in devotion.” -The Fine Print

I love that Iris and Declan’s relationship already has a foundation to build on. It makes the shift in their dynamic feel natural and seamless. I also appreciated that Declan eventually gives Iris the space to separate work from home life, since she is also his secretary, though I wish it wouldn’t have happened so late in the story. This makes their love feel genuine rather than dependent on her role at work, something I also really enjoyed in The Wall of Winnipeg and Me.

The book is filled with tropes I adore such as marriage of convenience and grumpy x sunshine, yet it never feels cliché. The combination of the inheritance storyline with these tropes makes the story feel fresh and unique. Iris and Declan’s romance is vibrant, and their ending is absolutely adorable.

Summary of the Book

Rowan
I’m in the business of creating fairy tales.
Theme parks. Production companies. Five-star hotels.
Everything could be all mine if I renovated Dreamland.
My initial idea of hiring Zahra was good in theory, but then I kissed her.
Things spiraled out of control once I texted her using an alias.
By the time I realized where I went wrong, it was too late.
People like me don’t get happy endings.
Not when we’re destined to ruin them.

Zahra
After submitting a drunk proposal criticizing Dreamland’s most expensive ride, I should have been fired.
Instead, Rowan Kane offered me a dream job.
The catch? I had to work for the most difficult boss I’d ever met.
Rowan was rude and completely off-limits, but my heart didn’t care.
At least not until I discovered his secret.
It was time to teach the billionaire that money couldn’t fix everything.
Especially not us.
